Walks around the town of Chelan--Murals and nature!

On our first full day by Lake Chelan, we decided to go into Chelan, a 15-minute drive, and see a bit of the old part of town, especially the murals.  The murals are spread across town so we so some that day and more other days.  I'm putting them all together here so you can see them.  They are not as abundant, visible,  or spectacular as the ones in Toppinish, but definitely worth seeing.

The first one was easy to find, near the park.  Chief Peter Wapato is honored in this montage which also shows local scenes from the turn of the century, including the Hotel Chelan (now Campbell's) in the upper right, Manson in the lower center, and the Field's Hotel (in Stehekin) in the upper left.

The next few were hard to find as they were off a back alley and several were impossible to find including one that was painted over on the back of a retail building.

Below is a mural made of a photo by Glen Morehead of downtown Chelan as it appeared in the early Sponsored by:  Lake Chelan Mural Project and Interwest Bank.
Below, a close up of the truck in the above mural.

The design below was on the Wells Fargo back.  While not a mural, it definitely added to the art of the area.

The old school bell, in front of the town museum, is also part of the mural and sculpture tour.

A bear hug??
The four murals below are of four stages of development of the Red Delicious apples.  Sponsored by Lake Chelan Mural Project.

The mural below was behind the Chevron gas station.  Many were hard to see because of their location.  The four apple panels above were next to a parking lot and the views were partially blocked by cars.

Nava, Havazelet and I on our last day took a nice stroll on the Chelan Riverwalk Park, a loop pathway a bit over a mile long that loops between the two bridges over the Chelan River in the historic downtown area.  There are shaded benches along the trail.  We got a bit lot, found a public bathroom, and continued our lovely stroll..
